Overcome Your Laziness
If you just look at the busy streets of Singapore, you’ll get the picture that Singaporeans are rarely lazy. But if you happen to be one of those unfortunate lazy ones, I can just imagine how life can be even tougher for you. Unless you’re one of the lucky few who are born with wealthy parents, we’re all required to spend our waking lives working.
That is, if we want to live the life we want. For some, even working six days a week and more than eight hours a day is still not enough to give them a comfortable life. To ditch that ugly bitch called laziness, here are some tips:
- Write down a to-do list for the next day
It’s so easy to start your day forgetting about the things you needed to do. Before you know it, you’re already feeling lazy even before you’re able to accomplish anything productive for the day. So before you go to bed at night, write down a To-Do list for the following day. This helps you prepare for a productive day even before it starts. Make sure you place this To-Do list somewhere you’ll easily see when you wake up.
- Eat that frog!
The hardest part of doing anything is starting it. So before you even start thinking of the huge task ahead of you or how lazy you can be, dive on that first task already. Make sure you start with the difficult and least interesting tasks because your energy is still up by then and it’ll be easier for you to push through when you know you’re already done with the most difficult part.
- Time yourself
Know how productive or lazy you are by timing yourself. You should have set an organized timeline for yourself where you have already accomplished a certain task by a particular hour. Look at this timeline from time to time so that it gives you the push to work harder and finish your goals.
- Enjoy a lazy weekend
Reward yourself with a lazy indulging self-pampering weekend. Let this be the reward you can look forward to while you grind yourself for the rest of the week. You will better appreciate a relaxing weekend when you know you’ve had a productive week.
- Make it a habit
Make this a routine every day and every week for a month until this becomes a habit. What better way to ditch an unproductive trait than by replacing it with a positive one. The more you do these steps, the easier they become.
